Paul writes his First
Letter to the Corinthians (5:9 tells of an earlier letter, maybe
this is referring to a fragment we have in 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1? Paul
had heard reports from Chloe regarding dissension-1:11; 11:18. Problems
included: sexual immorality (5:1-8;6:12-20); legal disputes (6:1-11);
abuses of the Lord's Supper (11:17-34) and controversies regarding the
resurrection (15:1-58). The Corinthian Church had written to Paul about
some questions as well (7:1a): sex within marriage (7:1b-40); eating
meat offered to idols (8:1-11:1); spiritual gifts in worship
(12:1-14:40) and Paul's collection for Jerusalem (16:1-4).
